The municipality of Calpe is located on the north of the Province of Alicante, between Benissa and Altea, and it is without doubt one of the most famous localities of the Costa Blanca. The Rock of Ifach Natural Park, all the coves, cliffs and beaches in this locality and the Las Salinas Natural Park, used to obtain salt in the Roman times for commerce, form a very interesting and wonderful tourist heritage. Calpe, just like the other town on the Costa Blanca, has experimented a great tourist boom, which has increased, along the years, the population. Now there are more than 29,500 inhabitants, and more than a 60% of them come from other countries.

The Rock of Ifach and the Las Salinas Natural Parks.

The Rock of Ifach and the Las Salinas Natural Parks offer the visitors in Calpe two places with an extraordinarily wonderful landscape. The first one is a particularly beautiful, huge mountain inside the sea. It is unique in the whole Mediterranean coast. The second one offers a beautiful image with the different migratory birds, flamingos and herons, which rest there and find the food they need for their livelihood during the migratory periods.

     

The municipality of Calpe offers, in addition, the possibility of discovering and getting to know other interesting places. You can walk next to the sea through different promenades, observe the buildings of the renowned architect Ricardo Bofill, enjoy the spectacular views over the Manzanera and the Cabo Toix, discover the archaeological remains of a Roman village and the Baños de la Reina or practice hiking in Sierra de Olta.

     

Calpe's Coast. Coves, beaches and Sport ports.

Calpe's coast offers a great variety of coves and beaches with extraordinary quality, distributed throughout its thirteen kilometres of coast. Some of them have obtained the Blue Flag status, awarded by the European Foundation for Environmental Education to beaches and ports. Two of these beaches must be particularly highlighted, the Arenal-Bol beach and the Levante-Fossa beach, which both have obtained the beach quality mark "Q" from the Spanish Tourist Quality Institute, besides they also have the certifications of the  ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 standards for the environmental management and quality.

     

The main beaches of Calpe, awarded with the Blue Flag status, are the Arenal-Bol beach, the Levante-Fossa beach and the Cantal Roig beach:

    

The Arenal Bol beach.

Located next to Calpes centre, separated from it only by the promenade. More than one kilometre of fine sand, adapted with all the services which make the access to the water easier for the disabled and also equipped with other services such as: toilets, showers, parking, lifesaving and watchtower, games, restaurants, footbath, etc.

    

Levante-Fossa beach.

Fine sand and crystalline waters, next to a promenade with many shops, restaurants, ice-cream shops, coffee shops and pubs. In some summer nights there is an outdoor cinema in this beach and it also has all the necessary services: to make the access easier for people with reduced mobility, changing rooms, showers, toilets, lifesaving and games area, etc.

     

Cantal Roig beach.

It is a small beach with fine sand located next to the port and to the Rock of Ifach.

   

Apart from the three mentioned beaches, Calpe offers other beaches and coves:  Cala Gasparet, Cala Les Urques, Puerto Blanco beach, Cala la Manzanera, Cala el Racó, Cala del Penyal, Cala Raco del Corv, Cala Calalga and Cala del Mallorqui.

For the lovers of water sports, Calpe has two sports ports: The Real Club Náutico from Calpe, which is the most important port in Calpe. It has 264 moorings, a sailing and diving school, and all the excellent high quality facilities; and the Club Náutico Puerto Blanco, with 90 moorings, which are going to be extended up to 112, and it will be provided with all the infrastructure.

     

The sports ports in Calpe allow you to carry out along the year many water activities. It is also where, for several years, many events such as the traditional Calpe-Formentera-Calpe regatta take place. Calpe is a nautical referent, shown by the fact that there many competitions valid for the World Championship as the Women’s Match Race have taken place.

From Calpe you can make maritime excursions  which include an underwater sight of the Rock of Ifach or mini cruises to Altea or Benidorm.
